Narrative
PHILADELPHIA, PA – A 15-year-old boy died, and a 14-year-old girl was charged when a police chase ended in a solo crash along the interstate in central Philadelphia.
According to 6 abc, the incident happened around 5:50 p.m. on the Schuylkill Expressway near mile marker 342.2, which is just east of the Philadelphia Zoo.
Authorities say they attempted to pull over a stolen Hyundai Sonata, but the driver evaded police. Shortly after, the Hyundai hit a concrete barrier and overturned several times.
The force of the collision threw a 15-year-old passenger from the vehicle. He died after transport to a local hospital.
Medics transported three other teens from the Hyundai to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
The 14-year-old driver of the vehicle faces a charge of vehicular homicide.
